Lost running mojo

I trained hard for my first half marathon which was meant to be at the beginning of March. I was so proud of myself and excited for the race. Did my last long run of 14 miles on 18th Feb, spent the next two weeks tapering then sadly the half was cancelled due to the snow Sad.

I signed up for another race at the end of April (now 4 weeks away) and for various reasons (illness, weather, work) I’ve only been able to get out running twice in the last month.

Any advise on getting my mojo back would be gratefully received. I really need to get my arse in gear if I’m going to do this half at the end of April but I’m starting to worry that I won’t be able to cover the distance due to my dip in training.

You've the hard work done of the training you'll definitely be able to April's race.
Can you schedule in a few runs every week from now until the race?

I’m aiming for 8-10 miles tomorrow, just seeing how I go, with a couple of short runs during the weeks on the run up. Hopefully I can get a couple of long runs in on the weekends before the end of the month. Thanks for your reassurance!

Depending where you are in the country, and if you’re up for it and not injured etc, Ironbridge half is tomorrow, I’m sure there are lots of places being given up (I’ve just had to give up my place- gutted), maybe you could contact them and see if that’s an option?
Treating it as a long run instead of a half marathon, if that makes sense.

Are you in a club? There's so much more motivation when you're going to meet people and everyone is running together

Glad to help, I've 10k next sat and 10m two weeks later & haven't run since mid February but I'm confident I'll complete them both but not at the pace I'd have hoped before flu zapped all my energy Confused

Ironbridge Half is a bit too far sadly.
We do have a really good running club here- I’ve always been a bit scared of joining but I think it will be my next step. I’m a bit of a loner runner but clearly that’s not helping my motivation!

Good luck with your upcoming races mammy
