streatham common parkrun

Hello I am looking to start a parkrun on streatham common and want to get a team of volunteers together to get this off the ground.

Wondered if there are any mums in the area who would be interested?

parkrun is a free series of events across the UK and the world. If you are looking to get into running or exercise generally, parkrun is 5k distance (around 3 miles) so something that can be attempted by most as long as you can walk, run or jog.

There probably are, but might not want to be associated with their MN user names.

Are there any other routes to finding you in RL?

There’s a massive Streatham Mums Facebook group - I’d post in there.

There is a “parkrun discussion board” on fb maybe worth posting there to look for interest?

Do you have a park run ambassador for your area? We had a meeting up here in Aberdeenshire with our local one last night. On his advice we have formed a core group, he says you need 8-10 people, and it's our job to sort a route and raise funding. The meeting was advertised through local running clubs and Facebook pages, we got about 40 people along. Good luck!

I am trying to form the core group at the moment. Have gone out to all running clubs in the area. The issue is really that streatham as an area doesn't have a UK athletics running club (just a small informal club of around 10 people). We are going recruiting in person on Saturday to the nearest parkrun as lots come from the streatham area to Tooting.
