Exercise Ideas

Hi, I was wondering if someone could advise on the best form of exercise for me as am pretty clueless when it comes to fitness 😶 I walk a fair amount everyday but that's all I do currently.

I'm 5"2 and a size 6/8. But I have a belly (unfortunately never shifted since dc), and massive thighs. I joined aerobic classes after dc2, the weight dropped off me scarily fast and from everywhere except those two places I wanted. I was advised it's not the right exercise for me(?) and therefore stopped.

I am looking for an exercise which targets those two areas specifically whilst toning the rest of me iykwim. Any ideas? Weight training possibly??

I was far too skinny growing up and was told I would 'fill out' after children. I haven't really, just put weight on those two areas which is now not in proportion to the rest of me.

as far as I know, where you put down fat stores is genetic. You can't target just one area to lose fat. The best you can do is to increase the muscle tone in those areas so they might look less flabby, but they will probably still be the place where any fat is. You'll lose your boobs before you lose fat in those places.

There are lots of youtube videos you could look for about 'toning' up the belly & thighs.

Hi Snortles, if you're looking to shift some weight the best place to start is to look at your diet. Exercise is great and will help lose the weight and will help keep it off once you have lost it, but if it's weight loss or fat loss you're hoping to achieve then you need to change your diet. Exercise alone won't get you the results you want as it's not possible to spot-reduce fat (i.e. you can't lose fat from just one area of your body - unfortunately!). I'm a women's personal trainer and have written a few blogs about it - check them out and let me know if you have any further questions!
