Do you mean the first day? Or week?

Anyway, it does get easier. I think the first stage is the hardest.

You can do something's to help: I put together a motivational playlist to accompany me. I also - after about week 3 - invested in some proper running shoes. Which made things much much more pleasant.

For context. I did c25k two years ago. By week 12 I was addicted to running. In may I'm doing my first marathon.

It gets easier if you keep doing it. It might not feel that way to begin with but it does.

The last week before the 5K can be a tough one - depending on what 5K program you're doing you may well end up running for more than 30 minutes - but it's worth it.

I struggled through the start of the program a few years ago. As a bad asthmatic it's not easy.

I started off running for 45 seconds before needing to walk. Carried on and now doing the bath half marathon. It gets so so much easier and you've already done the hard part deciding to start! Be kind to yourself and tell yourself a half hearted run is still better than no run!

Thanks everyone.

I did the first part of week 1. Shock to the system 😂.

Determined to keep on though. I'm gonna do the 9 weeks and go from there. 3 times a week I reckon is manageable.

Can only get better right?

Absolutely:) you'll be here this time next year saying: just don't my 10k!

I think it helps to bear in mind that the first mile always hurts, even when you are fitter. So the longer distances are in some ways more pleasant. Well done on doing it.
