My dh brought me a sports tracker watch for xmas and I'm not sure it's working properly.

I've done a couple of gym cardio sessions this week where I was working hard - averaging a heart rate of 170bpm for about 35 mins (my max heart rate is 184bpm)

My watch is telling me I've only burnt approx 180 cals. I'd expect it to be more than that - about 300 to be honest.

Can anyone advise if this looks right please?!?!?!

Have you gone into the app and personalised it? ie/ height/weight/age. To be honest 180 cals for half an hour @170bpm seems about right.

Yes I have added all my personla data to the app.

At the beginning of the year I did a 30min spin class - my average heart rate was 170bpm and it said I burnt 300 cals.

I don't think I worked less hard in the gym today than I did at that class so I'm really unsure which is correct.

I'm never sure how accurate any of the calories burnt estimate things are - our gym does it, the machines know your age, weight and height so it is personalised but I've seen comments elsewhere about many of the machines being very generous with what they say you're burning. Which makes sense as the manufacturers want to encourage people to use them!

Bikes are supposedly one of the more accurate things since it's a limited range of motion, it's not like one of the cross trainer things where you can really go for it or do little steps. If I'm doing a fairly moderate pace/resistance on a gym bike, enough to start sweating but not really going for it, the bike tells me I burn around 100 calories in just over ten minutes. But I am almost six feet tall and slightly overweight, so that would up my calories burnt in comparison with someone petite working at the same effort. By comparison the treadmill says I burn around 160ish calories in the course of jogging a mile, and the step machine set to 11-13 sort of effort it says around 100 calories in 8 minutes. Idk really, I just use it as a way of comparing effort across machines and gym sessions rather than actually thinking those ten minutes equals one kitkat.

Hmmm I dunno I'm inclined to think a 30min spin session would def burn a lot more calories than a regular gym session.

Spin is the devil, just saying.

I did a 40min interval run on the treadmill today, 2min fast walk, 2 Min fast jog/slow run and that (apparently) burnt 180 calories. But that was just the treadmill calorie counter which I assume isn't reliable
