Help! I've signed up in a fit of madness for a 10km river swim in September.
I can swim but it's not something I "do" on a regular basis. I wanted to sign up for something to make me focus (I do this every year but it's usually running which I can do - at a sedate plod). This year, it's a swim that I was persuaded into by a colleague.
Tell me, has any leisure swimmer managed to do something like this and how did you train? I've started do a bit of swimming and can manage up to 2kms in the pool (no idea how much I can actually manage but time constraints apply).
Tips would be most gratefully received. My main issue is when do I start open water swimming? This is really the big issue, the distance is not so much of a terror than the open water.
Is this something that I've taken on too lightly? Should I pull out now?
