Couch to 5k...then 10k...by May!

After topping the scales now at a whopping 80kg I need to shed the timber.

I did couch to 5k before and love it, however am looking to achieve 10k in 16 weeks.

Can anyone recommend an app I could use that’s as kind on the less sporty of us?

It was the NHS Choices one: a brilliant app, and I’d use it again, but I was just seeing if there was one as good to get all the way to 10k

Watching with interest as I did couch to 5k with a run end Oct then haven't run since and seriously regretting that. I've now booked a 10k run end feb but need an app to push me onto the 10k as well as get me back up to 5k

Almost the same tale here @fairiesandelves except the run I did on completing the C25K was the death knell to my Achilles. I don’t know why but it effed it right up and totally erased all my motivation.

I’m hoping to do a 10k in April, have set May 1st as my deadline.

I've got heel problems too. Plantar fasci I strap mine up in training. Going to start training for the 10k new year
Wondering if end feb run is too ambitious for me. Hey ho it's
Booked now. Going to try husbands cbd oil if my heels get too bad.

Once I was at 5k I then did 2xruns a week and added half km a week to one run and did a min 5k on another run each week to build up to 10k. I also used the NHS C25k+ podcasts for stamina and speed to help. I logged on Strava so I could watch my stats change. Gd luck you can do it.

How're you doing OP? I have got out running gear in a bid to kick me into action tomorrow... but am very doubtful it'll get me to part with my warm duvet!

Can I join in? I used to be able to run plod 10k and I want to get back there. I use the zen labs app too and find it good. I've been for two 3.5k runs this week and planning another tonight.

i got t 10 minutes run on my first attempt at c25, in 2016, then got to 20 minutes running which i was finding easy in november 17, but in december i just faded away, (loads of excuses but basically just let each running day go) now i'm back to 10 minutes x 3, cross I haven't got back to 20 minutes yet, but keep telling myself- 'you're a runner, you're doing this! determined to run 5k , 3 times a week, this year!
