Anyone got any thoughts on these? Do they help in your exercise routine? Is one better than the other?

I have a Concept2 which tend to be what rowing clubs use. I've tried out a Water Rower a few times and it felt quite good, plus it's a bit quieter. What sort of training are you trying to do?
Concept2 have a rental scheme which looks like an excellent idea if it's something you are not completely sure about, it's a large and expensive piece of kit to have sitting around as a glorified clothes hangar.

Hanger. Sorry.

HopeClearwater · 22/11/2017 18:57

Thanks Cardi

Hadn’t heard of the rental scheme and will look into it.

Our concept 2 is now 13 years old and has been used 4/5 times a week since we bought it, no maintenance issues, no issues at all.

Could you look for a used one?

An alternative to the rental scheme is to ask to join a gym near you on a months basis to see if you like using a concept 2. I had one for 20 years and really liked them. Only sold it due to arthritis in knees and ankles. They are a good investment as I sold mine for £650 on eBay 20 years after buying it for a £1000 20 years before.

Appreciate the replies. I had access to a decent rowing machine twenty-odd years ago and it was one of the few forms of exercise that I stuck to. I hate running!

Do you have somewhere suitable to use it? Mine is an ex-gym machine which I had refurbished and is like new again and we have a large basement where there is space and where playing music while I exercise doesn't bother the rest of the family.

For exercise plans, the Concept2 website has plenty of suggestions.

Our is in a spare bedroom, has been in a barn, garage and has had to be folded in half at times when we didn’t have a spare bedroom.

Headphones!

HopeClearwater · 27/11/2017 21:55

It would be master bedroom only ... but there is only me in that room now so might be ok.

It is fine Clearwater - lots of people manage with exercise gear in their bedroom. It does fold in half if you need it to. Mine is currently in a spare room with a clothes airer across the main beam bit!

Barchester, do you have headphone recommendations? Sweatproof, maybe.

BarchesterFlowers · 29/11/2017 18:18

No, I don't! I have one of those tiny iPods for the rower, just a clip only no display. Is it called an iPod shuffle - must be nearly ten years old. I just leave it on the rowing machine and clip it on, DH and I both use it.
