Would anyone like a board for running threads?

I'd love one - there are other really busy running fora online, but I'd love to be able to get a bit more running chat from MN.

Please say Yay below if you agree, and I'll report this post in a hopeful way Smile.

Yay! Not running much at the moment, as not well, but looking forward to getting back into it

OneMoStep · 04/11/2017 20:04

Oh great 😊 - MN said they'd keep an eye on this thread, and think about it.

I can always chat about running!

Did I ever mention C25k??? ;-)

AuntieStella · 06/11/2017 08:55

Wet blanket here, but I think MN has enough topics already.

And what with the existing threads in this topic (general run chat, parkrunning, running by distance, shoes, clothes etc) I'm not really sure there's a shortage of run chat at all.

Though I suppose non-runners might welcome any loosening of the stranglehold that running usually has on this topic

JustGettingStarted · 06/11/2017 09:04

Weightlifting got another forum and it was a ghost town. Now we have a lively weight-lifting thread here.

This forum will always be dominated by runners because that's what most people think of when they think about getting in shape.

Proudtrout · 06/11/2017 09:11

Yes!!

okthen · 06/11/2017 12:49

Oh, it's interesting to read a couple of negative reactions too.

AuntieStella, I know there are a few long running running (😄) threads, but I think they can be a bit difficult for a newcomer to drop into. I do appreciate that there are a lot of boards on MN though.

JustGettingStarted, that's interesting about the weightlifting board 🤔. I see other online running fora, and how fast moving they are, but it doesn't quite feel like that here.

OneFantasticFox · 06/11/2017 19:39

Yay!

AuntieStella · 07/11/2017 12:44

There's only really two big/multipart threads: the main chat thread and the Parkrun thread, both of which are really welcoming (and each iteration starts off short!) And they's be just like that even in a topic, wouldn't they?

All the others would be much the same, and perhaps slightly less useful in terms of recommendations/advice, if separated from those who do other sports

AuntieStella · 07/11/2017 12:47

"I see other online running fora, and how fast moving they are, but it doesn't quite feel like that here."

I think that would be the case however this site is arranged.

Running fora will always be quite different from MN, and people who want fast moving run chat will go to running sites, not a parenting/chat one.

Veterinari · 07/11/2017 12:47

It depends on where they put it.

They created a cycling topic for us but decided to put in in the ‘in the club’ topic rather than with other exercise/health topics and so it’s died a death as no one can find it.

Total waste of time
