Running watch for sprints/intervals

I'm looking to be able to measure my time over 200, 400 metres etc. I'm enjoying running intervals and pushing myself in that way and I don't think I'll ever be very motivated to go over 5k. The problem is I need to be able to measure distance and time accurately to see if I'm improving at all. Can a running watch do this? Is there some way I can do it on my iPhone?

I have a polar m400 which does this, you can set multiple intervals and do both time and distance (eg if you want to run 400m then rest for 1 minute).

I expect most GPS sports watches will have the same feature, I'm not sure a phone GPS will be as accurate.

Thanks for the reply, I’m interested in the watch you mention, just need it a bit cheaper!

The Nike Running Club app has a ‘speed’ run function. You could try that?
