Half marathon in 10 days - stinking cold

Not sure why I'm here really, but I was due to do my longest run (18km) tomorrow (Thursday), then 10km on Tuesday before my half marathon on the following Sunday. I have now come down with a stinking cold and there is no way I'm going to be able to run tomorrow or for a while, I would imagine.

What on earth do I do now? Have I blown it? I ran 16km a week ago and 14km two days ago, but I have no energy and only a week and a half to go...

Don't panic! I did my first half marathon last weekend and had been unable to train for nearly two weeks beforehand due to DS getting chicken pox and then me getting a cold. It was fine. I found the last couple of miles very hard, and my time wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped, but I got round ok. My longest training run was 16k 3 weeks before.

So if you manage your expectations I expect you'll be fine. Hope you feel better soon.

Sugar really diminished your immune system. Dairy creates lots of mucous.
So give those up , have lots of veg soup, drink lots of water, and rest as much as possible.

Diminishes not diminished.

Thanks Superking, that's reassuring. I hope I feel better early next week and can get a run in. It's silly, but I need to be sure I can do something before I do it, so not being able to do my 18km is freaking me out.

Ohyesiam, I already have to be very careful with my sugar levels and today I am feeling very drawn to soup, herbal teas, etc so I guess my body is giving me the right signals. I might take the day off work tomorrow.
