Half marathon training advice

Relatively new runner here and looking for some advice regarding training. I did the gnr at the weekend and finished in 3hrs. I'm very pleased with this as during my training I pulled a muscle in my leg 2 weeks before the run. Only 20 minutes into the run it started hurting again. I think it's a groin pull. I want to do the gnr run again next year and beat my time which i know I can without the injury. Any advice on how to avoid a recurring injury? I'm scared it'll come bk again. Would it keep plaguing me on every run now?

Warm up before runs, but I'd say NOT stretch before hand as stretching cold muscles not best to avoid injury.

Bar that - one weekly long run seems common on any training plan I've seen online.

Yes, it's called dynamic or kinetic stretching for warm up (ie you move in ways that do useful stretching, rather than being still and specifically stretching) or you could walk briskly or jog very gently for your first 5 mins (and stretch at end)

I've found compression leggings worth it.

And a foam roller.

It might also be worth seeing a physio to see if they agree with you about what's up, and have any useful suggestions for your particular body.
