Exercise class or dvd

Good evening, I really need to improve my fitness as well as lose weight. I have been looking at our local leisure centre (20 min drive away) and they have a range of classes. I am thinking maybe if I go to classes I may meet some people and actually get to talk to people. However with gym membership and petrol would a dvd be as beneficial as a actually exercise class?

I'd start with the classes. It's not just having stuff available or else you'd have done YouTube and DVDs by now. I think the joining in and trying a variety is important. I've just started again recently (see my thread in Exercise about this) and I'm checking out various classes and venues to see what fits best. Or else I'd just be doing Pilates and yoga as this is all I know.

Don't expect friendships necessarily, I find others (here at least) a bit shy of grumpy.

Classes work best for me. I'm no good at self motivation and tend to slack off at the hard bits of a dvd. With an instructor and other participants I work hard to keep up and don't want to be one of the 1st ones to give up Grin
