Afternoon all, thinking about joining a gym. Enquired about family membership at David Lloyd (Cheadle) for two adults and two DS aged 7 and 9, For membership with racquets and NHS discount, they have quoted £246/month to include DL kids. Sounds very expensive. Swimming classes etc for kids are extras. I appreciate it might be great if we use it regularly, but looking for opinions on what are you guys paying for your DL membership? TIA

£108 for 1 adult & 1 teen, full racquets.

ShockShock that's very nearly £3,000 per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd look at alternatives to David Lloyd! That's daylight robbery! What are they offering that is so much better than 'normal' gyms/swimming pools?

Tbh even if there's not one club that offers everything that you want you may find you can, for example, afford separate racquets to swimming pool & gym and still pay less. (My swimming pool & gym membership (to independent one) would cost less than £800 per year for two adults and 2 DC over 5yrs old).

It does sound very expensive, but you have to compare like to like. Many health clubs don't allow children at all. Does DL require you to stay with your children to supervise, or are you able to leave them at the pool and go play tennis? If they're also providing children supervision, then that would be expensive.

Otherwise, my local leisure centre would probably cost 100 a month for a family, but not including tennis.

If you want tennis, swimming, child supervision, and a gym then you'll be paying much more than people pay for gyms like Virgin Active.

Is there a village hotel near you??? We pay £70 a month for all 5 of us the children are included free (this is off peak... I think it's £10-15 more for peak) they have classes for kids and the pool is never too busy x

If you want tennis is there not a local tennis club? We have one and it's £17 a year for a child to join and adult can play too with child for that... may be worth looking at? X
