TRX suspension training straps recommendation.

I walk/slowly jog about 25 miles a week (when I feel well enough)

I want to add some strength training and I liked the TRX straps, that the boxing class I went to years ago had. But it was circuit training and we only had one exercise a week on the straps.

I understand that you can do a lot of different exercises and found a few apps too.

However when I look at eBay I am confused by all the different types of suspension straps available to buy....which ones do I buy/avoid. It has to take a good weight !

Any advice ?

Following. The original TRXs are so expensive!

MaidOfStars · 08/08/2017 10:32

Mine (whenever I buy any) will hang from my pull up bar. I don't need heavy duty ones. The ones you link to come in XL/L/M - does that indicate weight bearing capacity?

Yes.
Medium is a lighter person and 1 person use level.
Large is for a fatter person and an average 2 person use level
Extra large is for very fat people and sn average multi person use level (I.e. gym)

I got one...hurrah. DH treated me and it arrived today. :)

Can't wait for the ceiling mount to go up...so we can use it. Or might try the door anchor if we have a suitable well fitting door.

Oooh, did the ceiling mount come with it?

jugotmail · 10/08/2017 11:26

Going to follow you as iv been drawn to these - sucker for the dream of abs iv never had - but confused about fittings as i have visions of it being a bit like a baby bouncer in the doorway

No, ceiling mount was separate to buy. The straps do come with a door anchor. I am eyeing up the french doors and wondering if they will work.

But I have a 4 mile walk first and a shopping trip with my DD1 before I can play.

I suspect I am going to find it very difficult as I have no strength or core strength and my balance is awful. But it looks fun. I enjoyed the straps at boxing (mainly arms work) and what have I got to lose...except my pride when I fall off and break my neck !

Will report back when I get a go :)

Also downloaded an app called 'Suspension workout' to try :)

Managed to wedge door anchor in french doors and done 8 minutes try !

  1. It is fun.
  2. It is harder than I thought. After 8 minute my arm muscles are aching.
  3. Just watching the leg exercises had me lmao...I am far too unfit for them. Sideways planks etc.
  4. I have decided to do 5 minutes per section (arm, legs, core etc) and keep trying.

Watch this space !

Can you post a pic of the door anchor please - just cant visualise it and dont know if it would work on our frame. Thanks and well done on making a start.

It is a pillow on the end of a strap it fits all doors as you open door throw pillow over the top and shut door to clamp it in place.

It is better to a door which opens away from you but can use the other way if it is a very well fitted door.

Will take picture tomorrow
