Hi all Smile. I'm a long time lurker on here but this is the first time I'm posting. I'm hoping to get a bit of support to try to lose weight and it seems like such a lovely, supportive community.

I'm fairly overweight (size 16-18 dependent on the shop) and I hate my stomach and thighs. So I've decided to do something about it finally. I have a good idea of how to improve my diet and cut out all the snacking but exercise just seems so hard to get into. I'm very very unfit.

Basically I've been looking at doing some cardio videos on youtube and I plan to join a gym within a month or two once I'm more confident exercising in front of people (that's the plan! fingers crossed I can stick to it).
If anyone has any experience, what do you think of videos such as this and this dance cardio channel www.youtube.com/channel/UCyqR7WkL8i1b6xtSssDmW9w.
I've done some but really struggle to finish and take lots of breaks Sad. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips to maximise weight loss. Also some feedback on the type of workouts I've started doing and if they're effective?

When I join the gym, any equipment or routines you'd suggest? Are there are beginner classes you have experience of?

Thank you so so much if you managed to get through all of this, even bigger thank you if you have any words of wisdom to offer Grin

I have lost 2 stone in the last few months, loving Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred and then 30 Day Shred. I still have a stone to lose before I'm even in the normal weight range for my height, but doing these exercises have totally altered my body and I am forever grateful to the mumsnetters who pointed me in the direction of all things Jillian Michaels!

I highly recommend fitnessblender.com, huge amount of free workouts and nutrition advice. All their workouts are on youtube.
