Please recommend a couch to 10k app

I would like to sign up to a 10k event in 12 weeks time with the aim of running/jogging the distance rather than walking it, so I was hoping someone could recommend a couch to 10k android app.

I've had a look but there are quite a few to choose from and I don't know how to decide which one to go with. Are they all much of a muchness?

I am new to running but not a complete couch potato; I currently walk 10,000+ steps a day, do 2 x 45 min HiiT sessions and 1 x 45 min aerobics class a week.

Also, the ones I looked at are all 14 week programmes and I only have 12, would it be possible to condense the 14 weeks into 12? Or should I stick to walking?!

Thanks in advance Smile

Jump in at Week 3. You'll be fine.

Thanks for your reply Rivers. I'll just pick one and have a go at starting from week 3. For some reason it hadn't occurred to me to just skip the first couple of weeks Blush Thanks!

Zen labs is free and I think was the original C25K. Some apps say that they're free but you have to pay after 3 weeks.

I have the zenlabs app, currently on week 7.

If you are reasonably fit then jump in at week 3 or 4, they are pretty manageable or do 4 runs per week instead of 3.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have downloaded the zenlabs app and will start on week 3 as that should take me right up to the event.
I was going to start today but we were out all morning and it is too hot now so I think I'll have to get up early and go out before breakfast tomorrow.
Thanks again for your help Smile
