Exercises to strengthen legs

Honey1975 · 27/02/2017 22:16

I have RA and have lost some of the strength in my lower legs. What are the best exercises to strengthen this area?
I do belong to a gym but am not sure which equipment to use to strengthen legs. Also happy to do exercises at home.

Any suggestions please?

Is it lower legs as in calves? Valve raises and stretches are good for them.

Can you squat and lunge? Body weight would be fine. Are there limits to what you can do because of your illness?

Calf raises. It's not spelt calve if it's singular 😳

Lol RJ I was wondering what valve raises were!
No limits to what I can try and see how I get on. I'd like to strengthen my calves & ankles & knee area.

Ok calf raises then, ankles are hard but circling your ankles is good for mobility, standing on leg as well. I've asked my pt for knee stability exercises so if she gives me some on Friday I'll post them for you.

Squats and lunges are good for whole legs and gluteus.

Yy to squats and lunges. Squats also good and low impact.

Depending on if you're limited in what you can do or not, the leg press is good at the gym.

Just repeated myself there with the squatting Hmm bedtime I think!

Yes I forgot about leg press, I use free weights more.
