Speed or distance??

I haven't been regularly running for the last 4 months - my DD has been in hospital so it just hasn't been possible.

She's fine now and I want to get back out there, but I've lost my mojo a bit. I feel that if I set myself a target, using a fixed training plan, then I'll find it easier to get out the door.

I ran 2 marathons the year before last and I've never been happy with my snail like times. If I aim for an autumn marathon I've got time to train properly, safely increase my distance and aim for a better time. I'd be happy with even 2 minutes faster than the last one!!

My other option is to really focus on speed. My 10k PB is 52 mins, and I'd love to get sub 50. I was beginning to chip away at the time before DD got ill. My 5k PB is close to sub 25 but not close enough!!

Which would you do? Please help me choose Smile

Speedwork takes less of your time & is more varied potentially.
Don't overdo it, you don't want to get an injury.

Always distance first, then speed.
