Does anyone know anything about exercise bikes?

My dd has asked for one for xmas.

She wants to spin at home. I've no idea if regular exercise bikes are the same as those that do spinning. Can anyone advise me?

Also, which brands are good?

How much should I expect to pay?

how hold is the dd?
has she ever been on an exercise bike before or gone spinning?
Does she even want to spin: the formal workouts are a bit brutal, or just a workout at her own pace?
How much does she think she'd use one?
what is your budget?
as usual, more you spend, better quality. The gym ones are very durable & come with computer displays, but fundamentally, it's a boring activity by yourself.

If it were me, & she remained keen, I would think towards getting a quality 2nd hand one on Ebay (good resale potential when she gets bored of it).

ps: where would damn thing live, they can be bulky... unheated space is better because if you work hard you sweat like a pig.

Exercise bikes and spinning bikes are different. I 2nd llijkk's advice about looking for a quality 2nd hand one on ebay or gumtree.

Thanks, both. She's 15. I do wonder if it's a piece of equipment she'll use for two months and then not but she has a knee issue which means impact sports like football, etc (she had to
give up taekwondo) are out. She wants to get fit and increase cardio exercise. I don't want to discourage that. Budget? Well, it'd be a xmas present. I guess a second hand one would be better. Would I be able to
pick one up for around £100 or are typically alot more?
