Gait analysis

I did this for the first time today. Hopeless. I have never run on a treadmill in my life so it felt really weird. Then I realised I was running on my mid-foot but while I'm out normally I'm a heel striker.

Am I just hopeless?

I'm going back tomorrow with my old trainers so that we can see how they have worn as this seems likely to be a more useful indicator!

that's interesting, I need new shoes and was thinking of going to a place that does this, but haven't done it yet because it is a treadmill, and I've never run on one

The independent shop I use does gait analysis outside on the footpath. I'm hopeless on a treadmill too!

I think it is really hard to run naturally with someone watching you tbh. Last gait thing I did, they had loads of minimal shoes that you ran in for 10 minutes, then they looked at you, then you tried on proper shoes which worked really well as it was more settled

I have done the pavement thing at Run and Become. At other shops I've tried on a few pairs run up and down the pavement to try them out.

From what I could see the gait analysis was just filming you on the treadmill so that you can look at yourself looking like an idiot running.

Gait is dependant on speed, the treadmill was likely simply faster than you normally run.
