Please could you recommend the best activity tracker for DH. He used to run a bit but due to injury I cant see him going back to it in the near future. I think he wants something to count steps (goes walking now he cant run) and see how many calories he burns off (nearly at goal weight, does 5:2). He's 56 (I'm not sure if that is relevant?!) he's got an iPad but not an iPhone. Don't want to spend £££ and it needs to be user-friendly!

I've got both. I've had a fitbit one for three years now and use it every day. I have a Garmin forerunner 10 that I bought this year, which I use for running only.

The fitbit is very good for general activity monitoring and I'd replace it with a One if anything happened to it. I'm not sure I'd get on with the flex wristband on all the time.

I know the more recent fitbits combine both functions but I'm happy with having two bits of kit, but possibly I might think differently if starting out from scratch, if that makes sense.

The only thing is I've yet to find an app for syncing with my iPad 2, only with my iPhone or the PC. I'm not sure about newer iPads.
