I'm about to start running and need to find a good plus size bra. Does anyone have any recommendations? I dont have a massive cup size but am Apple shaped so most shops don't go up to my size. At the moment I'm wearing a 48d but that is getting too big as I'm losing weight on slimming world too. So I'm a bit unsure if I need to go a lot smaller to squeeze me in a bit. Thanks!

Are you sure that's the right size? Or is that a typo for 38D?

I've got the Panache sports bra (expensive, but you can usually find somewhere online selling them at a reduced price).

I think you need a snug band, for all bras but especially for those you are most active in, because if the band is wandering, everything else will be.

When and how did you last measure your boobs?

You need statistically challenged bra intervention to get your size right. I don't think 48d could be right..... You do have a handful of boob or more?

Basically measure tightly under boobs. Do not add five. This is your back measurement.
Lean forward measure over full boobs. Every inch over your first measure is a cup size. There are half cup sizes at DD EE FF

Try bra stop for cheaper bra's. And eBay can often yield great results but check you can return.

I tend to use a credit card and buy ten from figleaves, returning what doesn't fit before the bill arrives.

Once you've measured yourself as above, then the Enell is a really great bra for total control, but I also like the Panache and Anita underwired bras.

I'm a big fan of the Panache sports bra too, and also the Shock Absorber ones. If you are in the size range for the Run bra after using bra intervention methods then that is highly regarded (but stops at an F cup), otherwise the S4490 is good (up to HH cup).

SummerHouse · 04/11/2015 18:40

Think mine is an Agatha or something similar sounding. I went into to shop to buy a 36b and came out with a 32f! Worth getting a professional to size you up. I love my running bra I might add!

SummerHouse · 04/11/2015 18:45

Oooohhh baleri have a sale on. Get a professional measure up then order online perhaps?

SummerHouse · 04/11/2015 18:46

Berlei sorry - excitement.

Ouch44 · 04/11/2015 18:48

I got a shock absorber run off eBay for £20. Think it was old colours but not bothered what colour it is!

CMOTDibbler · 04/11/2015 18:52

My Berlei run bra is a disappointment to me. It looks and feels so lovely, but its not supportive enough for running, and I'm only a 30FF.

fredabear · 04/11/2015 18:56

I recently got these from M&S and although I don't normally like a wired sports bra they're really comfy and supportive

SummerHouse · 04/11/2015 19:01

Sorry again I meant Anita not Agatha!! It was so, so expensive but I bought after a boy shouted soggy tits at me when I was out running. It is a truly amazing piece of kit. I now think bra is as important as trainers.

Another vote for Shock Absorber Run if it fits.
There is a fab website called lessbounce.com with a vast range of sports bra, you could try entering your size on there after updated measurements.

Rufuswetwipe · 01/01/2016 21:12

I wear two sports bras. It's the only way I feel supported Smile

chipsandpeas · 02/01/2016 14:54

have to say i got a sports bra out of primark as it was cheap and didnt fancy spending ££ on a decent brand, have shock asobrber bras as well but in white and these days most of my sports tops are darker
i much prefer the primark one it seems tighter than the shock asorber one

Oldisthenewblack · 02/01/2016 16:49

I recommend the Enell sports bra. Pricey, but boy, does it hold everything in. Best sports bra I've ever tried and I'm a 32G currently. I've worn the Enell since I was a 34HH though, and they have a HUGE range of sizes.

Try it. Order one (Lessbounce is a stockist) and just see how it feels - you can always return it if it's not suitable.

Oldisthenewblack · 02/01/2016 16:50

Just to be clear - the Enell sizing is for plus sizes too - unlike some of the other bras that have been mentioned.

Oldisthenewblack · 02/01/2016 16:53

The Enell definitely does plus sizes too, unlike some of the other bras that have been mentioned.

Oldisthenewblack · 02/01/2016 16:54

Yes, I posted that info twice....

dementedpixie · 02/01/2016 16:55

Measure according to this guide to get an idea of size.

I have had sports bras from boobydoo and brastop - my favourites are the Freya active under wired and the panache under wired. I had to go down in the band and up in the cup for them though

dementedpixie · 02/01/2016 16:56

Am a 36GG and in the panache got a 34H and in the Freya got a 36HH

swooosh · 03/01/2016 13:37

I love Victorias Secret, especially the Knockout front close which has bra cups which fasten at the front and then a tight zip up band around that on top. They had loads of different styles though.

Hadron21 · 04/01/2016 14:52

Another vote for Enell.
