swollen/fluid on knee

Has anyone ever experienced fluid on the knee? I'm assuming it's from cycling or one of my class (lots of press-ups some kneeling!) but not sure how to prevent it happening again. Will it go with a few days rest or do I need to do the whole RICE thing?

Hi I'm not an expert but my sister had water on the knee and I think she was told to not walk on it x

Is the fluid at the front of the knee below the knee cap or actually in the joint? If your joint has fluid that is usually the sign of an injury, such as a ligament or cartilage problem, and you should see a doctor or physio for proper diagnosis. If there is fluid at the front under the knee cap and this area is red and sore it is a bursitis and the treatment I'd antiinflammatories and rest.

My DBro got water on the knee every time he played a sport (which he did A LOT!) eventually had to have reconstructive surgery on his knee. It's fine now. I think it's quite common as a one off though. Just be aware if it keeps happening, it may be a sign that something is wrong.

It's definitely in front on the knee cap rather than the joint and as its not too sore hopefully rest will help. I'll swop my evening classes for tv with ice pack until the weekend Confused
