Obstacle run - what to wear?

I've bravely/stupidly signed up for an obstacle run which is in November and will involve climbing over nets, crawling through tunnels and wading through streams.
What should I wear? I'm worried that my normal running leggings won't protect me knees enough in the tunnels.

Pants! Particularly if you're crawling under barbed wire and catch your leggings Blush

I do a fair few of these and wear running tights - always long to provide shin protection and a technical top (short sleeved for preference but when it's super cold I wear a long sleeved base layer underneath). I've found knee length socks under my tights provide better shin protection and stop as much crap getting at my feet. Trail shoes are a must - road shoes will give you no grip at all.

I don't think there's anything you can wear for knee protection which won't be a bind when wet. Bruised knees/shins/elbows are par for the course doing these.

Which race are you doing? I've got Nuclear in November and am always looking for new challenges.

Thanks sweary. Long socks, well-covered bum and bruised knees it is then! I'm doing the commando series in Kent. I thought it might be a gentle (r) introduction to this sort of thing as only 6k although there are 15 obstacles so plenty of challenge.

BTW, there are some special running pants on offer on amazon at the moment - usually £45 down to £10. Dunno if they're any good.

It's the only time I wear drawers whilst exercising so tend to go for the ones on their last legs at the back of the drawer and then bin them when I've finished. Mud gets everywhere

I usually go commando under tights but wear running shorts on top. I try and avoid bulk, usually wear a long sleeve swimshirt and Skins capris with running short s and a running shirt on top. I would wear calf tights and trainer socks , less like to get eaten by feet.

I tend to go for 3/4 tights, and either a running t-shirt or a light breathable long-sleeve base layer, trainer socks.

Nothing I'd be gutted to have to chuck out if I can avoid it.
