Pilates recommendations around Streatham/Brixton/Balham/Victoria

Hi ladies!

I'd been thinking of starting pilates anyways and then found out I was pregnant (now 7weeks, very excited!). Considering my boobs hurt too much to run at the mo I figure it's the right time to start some new exercise! Can anyone recommend anywhere for pilates around the Streatham/Brixton/Balham areas? Or maybe more central like London Victoria or Oxford circus? (Which is near work). I know it doesn't need to be a pregnancy specific class just yet but thought it would be good to start somewhere I can carry on with in the later stages. Any ideas?? Xx

Congratulations Smile Is this your first pregnancy? If so, you might not be aware that it is probably not a good idea to start a new sport/discipline, especially one that is as focused on core (i.e. tummy) exercises such as pilates. I'm not even sure that the pilates studio would accept you, knowing you are in the first trimester of your pregnancy.

There is a new Yoga topic on MN where you can come to ask your questions about Pilates, possibly on this Pilates thread.

On the other hand, you could try a Pregnancy Yoga class and see how it goes. After the birth, you would be ready to start Pilates.

Hesel if you join the Streatham Mums Network on FB, you will get lots of recommendations for local pregnancy yoga/pilates classes. I did pregnancy yoga with yogaembodied

Thanks ladies! CoteDAzur it is my first, but I asked my doctor and she didn't seem to think it would be a problem. Maybe coz I've always done a lot of core work. But I'll definitely do more investigation, thanks for the heads up, coz I don't want to risk anything! TeaandHobnobs that sounds great! Hope do I find the network? I've tried searching but can't find it Confused

Pepilates is excellent. More Clapham than Brixton but they do an excellent selection of pregnancy classes and nice small class sizes

Thanks FreeButtonBee! That sounds great, I'll take a look.

TeaandHobnobs.. Just realised you said FB, doh! I'll check it out, thanks again!

This thread is a couple of years old, but it's likely the people/classes are still around.

Anything there look possible/suitable?

Sorry - ignore me, as that post want meant to go on a different thread asking for recommendations. I got in a twist and posted on the wrong one.
