Questions re: my running shoes

Hello! I have a pair of Asics Gel1000 shoes which I've run around 200 miles in. However, they are now noticeably "squidgy" where the gel is (they are for overpronation, so the outside bit of the heel is softer than the inside bit). Also sometimes when I run they feel like shoes do when they need to be reheeled - kind of worn down at the heel. But... surely I've not worn them out already...?

Also - tips on a good all round trail shoe (is it necessary?) for using largely on gravelly paths, occasional mud, etc - think of forestry trails or easy mountain-bike paths. I'm loathe to buy a pair, especially if my other runners need replaced, but some are OK prices in the sales!

The main benefits of trail shoes are reinforced mid sole and reinforced toe cap and more grippy sole ( plus some are waterproof). Basically they offer better for protection on uneven surfaces. However, unless you're having problems running those surfaces in road shoes, I wouldn't bother buying trail shoes.

Thanks for the advice!
