Midrift exercises

I have middle age spread although the rest of me is skinny and quite toned- I walk a lot.
Recently I have started working on my gut and have cut down on carbs, stopped with wine during the week, small regular meals and no carbs after 6.
However I feel I really need to get this bit toned up. I try to do planks most days and I do one I read about on MN involving breathing in, relax, draw tummy in and up, breath out whilst pulling in more.
I cannot commit to a dvd exercise regime.
A hula hoop does not fit in either my house or garden Sad
No to gyms.
Ditto to classes.
I'm 52

Any alternatives?

Hi TheImminentGin :) (love the name). I found cross movements very effective to whittle down my waist.

Do you have a resistance band at all? If so try and do some 'wood chops' with it in both directions; i.e. secure it somewhere near the floor, grab it with both hands, arms forming a triangle with your torse, slowly rotating upwards and over; do the same in reverse by securing the band somewhere at shoulder height.

Hmmm, doesn't sound very clear does it LOL... google wood chop exercise to get an idea. I found those great when I had no core muscles what soever
