C25k on treadmill - how fast?

I'm on week 4 doing 3.1mph for walking and 4.5mph for jogging- are these speeds fast enough? I do feel like I'm pushing myself hard!

Yes, they are fine - at least they were for me!

With C25k the idea is to push yourself just hard enough that you can finish each run and in that way build up your stamina. Stamina is far more important at this stage than speed. You can always work on your speed later.

Just want to point out that at 4.5mph you won't be able to do 5k in 30 minutes, but remember that it's the getting to 30 minutes that's the important thing - you'll still have completed C25k.

Do what's comfortable for you?.

I joined a running club that was doing c to 5. One of the first things the leader did was to run a short dirt de fast, and then at a much slower pace, and asked what speed should we be going. The answer was both were correct.

Basically, if you can hold a conversation whilst running, you are doing fine. If you can't, you are going too fast.

Distance, not dirt de

Thanks! Just needed some reassurance as when I talk to my "fit" friends they seem shocked/ bemused as to why I'm not going faster! I'd rather finish each session and work on speed when I can run non stop!

I do 5 for walking and 6 for running or their abouts.

Good luck with the running.

I've just started and do 4 for walking and 6 for running. I was thinking the same thing today.
