Stepping into our July Walking Challenge - all welcome!

Had a walking challenge thread going in April and June and found it really helpful.

Aim is to walk more than you are walking now!

My target is to actually do 10,000 steps a day EVERY day in July. Fingers crossed dodgy leg holds out.

I have a Fitbit but a pedometer or step counter on a phone would work as well. Or even just an aim of walking for 30 mins every day for instance.

So, July was really good for me - my final stats were:
584,166 steps
4,282 AMs
319.63km

However, August has been very poor! I went away for the weekend and did around 2,500 steps per day max Blush

I am languishing in the latter half of the Mumsnet FB group

Need to get my mojo back too, so am up for either a new thread or continuing this one?

Anyones till around? I have done very badly so far in August, it has been a real eye opener as to how much walking my term time routine provides me with. I got to lunchtime today having done less than a thousand steps.

However, I have bought a little portable stepper, so I can "walk" in front of the TV. Only problem is that the DCs aren't letting me near it!

I'm here. Rubbish though. My Fitbit strap broke so I orderd another which came yesterday. Have had excuse after excuse to do nothing.

Maybe we should just keep this thread limping along and start a new September one.

I'm eating badly, drinking too much and not exercising. Birthdays, anniversary, visitors, meals out and crap weather.

We have a treadmill arriving on Monday. Need to sort out space for it. It will go in an outbuilding/garage. With th cross trainer and rowing machine. I have NO excuse!

Right, I decided enough was enough today and hauled the family out for a walk. 19500 steps (which is probably about my total for August before today). Trying to get back into some better eating habits too (although we ended our walk with a rather lovely pub meal which won't have done the waistline much good). It was nice family time too, had lots of good chat on the way round.
