Hi everyone- I'm new! Just started the c25k programme in addition to my usual kettlebells workouts. Wondering how much weight people have managed to lose through running? If any? WinkSmile

3 weeks in. Also given up wheat and processed sugar.
13 lbs down :)

I lost half a stone doing, following the programme and eating better over a couple of months then went and got pregnant

9 weeks in. Have lost zero weight (ok I have lost 2lb- close to zero!) have now started slimming world too... Let's hope that the weight loss speeds up a bit now!

None. Actually this is not true: this time round, just restarted after 6months off running, I have lost about 2kg through calorie counting on top of running. My first bout of regular 5k+ running started in summer 2011 and ended last autumn, in that time I did not really lose any weight, but gained a lot of fitness (having been a couch potato all my life, except for cycling and walking). Gained a stone in the last year despite running... I have no illusions that for an average person It's mainly your food intake that affects your weight loss.

I agree about diet- I'm also following weight watchers! It's been slow, only 4lbs lost in 5 weeks but I feel so much better for the exercise!

Not sure about weight, around 13lbs.

However, I've gone from a large and wobbly size 16 to a fairly toned small 12 in 5 months.

AppleSnapple · 20/06/2015 17:26

Yes- I should say, despite what I said above- after even only 9 weeks although weight hasn't dropped I feel soooo much better and shape is (slowly) starting to change!

I started c25k in January and since then I have put on a stone Confused...

It also coincided with stopping bfeeding but still Shock

I keep telling myself it's all the muscle and am now on a diet

C25K without dietary changes will not make that much difference to your weight at all! In a 5k run you're probably only burning a max of about 300 cals that r there abouts, so that's not even a croissant and a latte.
I know SO many people who have put on weight marathon training (me included) as you end up overcompensating.

Only time running led to weight loss for me without drastic changes to my diet (I eat terribly) is running too and from work which is 11 miles a day, a long slow run on the weekend (15 odd miles?) and a race or training session on the other weekend day and running club coaching session on a Tuesday (after run-commute) with one day off a week.

Sorry to sound pessimistic but 3x a week will make you fitter it is unlikely to help you lose weight without changing your diet too.

Not pessimistic at all- realistic! For me I'd love to lose about 3 stone and that's why I'm following weight watchers too. But if I'm honest And realistic I just want to fit into smaller clothes and appear more toned so the combination of exercise and diet is a must! Just wish I didn't hit self destruct every time the weekend comes!!! Grin
