Sore shins after first run!

I have just started using the personal running trainer app which looks the same idea as the c25k that I've just seen lots of threads about. Anyway, I ran yesterday and today my shins of all things really hurt. Google suggests resting a few days in this case. Am I to give in already?! Feeling quite motivated and disappointed my body is letting me down! Any advice?

Shin splints s- I would try and run through it - if you can. Have you got proper supportive running shoes?

It does sound like shin splints.

Use ice packs to relieve the inflammation and make sure you are wearing decent running shoes (maybe get your gait checked at a specialist running store). Then gradually increase your distances when you run - too far too soon is a recipe for injury

Stretching work for me too - calves, hamstrings, quads, glutes, hips. Stops everything tightening up!

I do have new running shoes, though I didn't get my gait checked. I was only running for 60 second bursts so couldn't really have taken it any easier!
