running/foot injury question

Hello. I know you're not doctors or physios or anything but lots of you have lots of experience with this sort of thing so...

I twisted my ankle walking (in a pothole) about 3 weeks ago so haven't been able to run. My ankle feels much better so I was hoping to get out for a run this week, but when I've done a lot of walking my ankle still feels a bit achey. Can I start running again if I take it easy, or should I wait till it's properly better?

Part of me thinks I should wait, but then I wonder if I'm being overly cautious - and I want to get out again.

Thank you!

I would give it a go,take it very steady, niggles or aches are ok, pain isn't is my general view on this one. After running stick your foot in a bucket of water and ice cubes ( more effective than a pack of peas or an ice pack) if your ankle doesn't feel any worse the next day steadily resume normal running. If it is worse maybe time for physio. Good luck

Thank you bikeandrun - and thanks to whoever also replied to the duplicate thread Blush before it was deleted. Consensus seems to be have a go and take it easy. I'm dancing tonight so will see how that goes before trying a run tomorrow or Wednesday.

My new Garmin Forerunner is arriving today and I want to try it out!!
