Gym

So after doing some research and jiggering with my budget I found a fitness centre quite close to home that has a PAYG option. I've worked out out that I can afford to do either one gym session or exercise class per week and so I booked and did my first gym session today!

I had my induction where the guy showed me the various machines and how to operate them and then he left me to it and then I managed 40 minutes of exercising before I felt the start of a panic attack and had to leave.

I didn't push myself too hard but by the end I was definitly sweaty and for most of it I had a bloody annoying wedgie that I didn't feel able to deal with as the place was fairly busy. I may have also made a daft comment to the inducting guy about not wanting to lose my boobs which I put down to nerves. Blush

I'm afraid I don't really have a question for the board but as I lack friends in the real world and I was proud of myself for actually doing something I just wanted to share it with someone.

Yay! Smile

Really well done! But beware-that post gym buzz is addictive. It sounds like your induction was really good too. What sorts of things will you be doing? I got a personal trainer who introduced me to weights and now I have arms I don't hate. I can also run on a treadmill without feeling like I am going to have a heart attack. I absolutely love feeling fit and strong and planning how to achieve my next fitness goal which is miles better than thinking about my dress size.

Good luck with your journey to fitness (and hope you find some comfy pants!) Smile

I tried to alternate between machines that focused on legs and machines that did upper body so....

Treadmill to get me into it and slowly increase heartrate
Chest Press
Cross trainer with no moving arms
Shoulder Press
Bike
Thing that was like a Chest Press but opposite

I'm not in a hurry so i'm quite happy to work towards some kind of fitness level above my current of poor and then i'd like to switch off the gym to doing class and maybe make a friend while getting fit in the process.

Well done, sounds great.
I like working out at the gym but I go through phases of finding it a bit monotonous, listening to podcasts keeps me going when that happens! Classes are my favourite thing, do they have a good selection at your new place?
