C25K - how do you time yourself?

Hi, I have just started this. Well, I am doing the 'Pooch25K' version, as I'm running with my dog. For Week 1 I am doing 90 secs of running alternated with 60 secs of walking. I am counting the 90 secs and 60 secs, and occasionally retrieving my phone from my knickers to check the time (I haven't owned a wristwatch for years as they stop working with days of owning them).

There has got to be a better way, though? How does everybody else do it? Do you have an App or something that attaches to your arm?

Thanks.

I use the free c25kfree app on Google play, there is a nhs free version for both platforms but you can't use your own music. Either way both apps are great and count you into running or walking. Have a look on your phones app store and go with the two most popular, see which one works well with your style of exercise then delete the one that doesn't. Hth x

Thanks toasty. What do you do with your phone whilst you're running?

Yes, free apps. I used the NHS one. All the thinking and counting is done for you, you just move. :)

I have an arm band for my phone that I use when running.

Thanks, I found an App. Gonna go out and buy an armband today.

I use the NHS choices free app but I can listen to my own music (discovered podcasts suit me better though - more distracting!)

This is the one I've used a few times

I used C25K by Zen labs - it's free and lets you overlay your own music. I used to hold my phone but can see that isn't ideal with a dog lead as well. I have an armband now but now that I'm doing my own runs I find it frustrating as the screen is rubbish.

I stuffed my phone down my bra, I hate running and holding stuff plus it meant I could feel it vibrate when I had to change from walk/run.

I used the stopwatch on my phone for a few months! Then I realised that was rediculous and bought a watch off ebay for about 99p.

I used an app and an armband thing to hold the phone. Just set and go. Easy

Well, I downloaded an App and I bought an armband - I'm all set Grin. I just need to work out how to carry the poo bags. They both blew away this morning and I had to chase after them. So humiliating.
