Toning a saggy bottom. What works?

Just that really. I'm happy with the rest of my body but my bum needs serious work. Does running help? I have Jillian Michaels buns and thighs DVD. Has anyone seen results with it? Any other DVDs?

Squats.

And cycling.

Running and squats. Proper running where you actually get out of breath though not just jogging.

Squats, squats and more squats!

What about if you've got a flat bottom? Can you make it more shapely?

Littlepumpkinpie · 29/03/2015 10:33

Lots of heavy deep weighted squats and lunges. Ass to the floor almost a nice hold and the bottom and squeeze on the way up . It takes time but a flat bottom will become a peachy one with time .

I glute burn for 20 mins a day on x trainer ....to keep my buns of steel Smile

Also re running, hill work will do wonders. Running up hills will soon have your bum in shape.

Squats. I squat my body weight with a barbell. This isn't 'heavy' by most lifters' standards, but when I started I couldn't even squat without falling over. I saw a difference within weeks and have a very pert bum nowadays for the first time in my life. Why didn't anyone tell me about squats when I was 17?

PurpleSwift · 29/03/2015 17:09

Cardio won't help. You need weights. Use your body weight at first and do squats, lunges, bridges, and squeeze in your bum with all these exercises!

Running helps the cellulite on my legs but shrinks my bum. I recently switched gyms and started pilates - I now have buns of steel! I also do Insanity four or five times a week and there are a lot of squats/lunges included but you must remember to clench your bum on the way up too.

If you can't get to a gym then look on Youtube for some videos. PP are right about weighted squats - you never see women who do Body Pump with saggy arses.

Charitygirl1 · 29/03/2015 17:56

That Jillian Michaels DVD worked for me -lots of squats, lunges, bridges etc.

Proper, hard, cycling has done wonders for my bum. Now as I run 3x a week, swim twice (1500-2000m of freestyle), and cycle twice I look pretty good if I do say so myself!
