Tender ankles whilst running

I have just recently taken up running once again. So starting slowly but progressing well and really enjoying it. However, my problem is my right ankle can sometimes feel quite sore, during the first ten minutes and for several hours after the run. Would I benefit from purchasing insoles such as Sorbothane? Or is there a better remedy? I have read the reviews on Amazon and everyone mentions they help with splints but don't mention ankle pain.

You need to do lots of exercises to strengthen your feet and ankles - like these, and these.

Also, did you get fitted properly for your shoes?

Agree with strengthening exercises & good shoes, & also make sure you are wearing proper running socks - they're not a gimmick, they do help to support your ankles. I have two pairs of lovely Nike socks that have a strong thick elasticated ankle band and they make such a difference.
