Fitbit or similar?

I have a Garmin Forerunner which I use for running (although I'm not running at the moment). I have just given up my sedentary desk job and moved to a new very hilly rural area and would like to start tracking how much walking I do in a day now so was considering a Fitbit. Phone reception can be dicey round here so I suspect an app on my phone wouldn't work (although I am happy to be corrected on this). Can anyone tell me what the best option might be please? I'm assuming I can't just wear the Garmin all day?

My very kind DSis recently bought me a Jawbone Up. It works with its own app and they connect via Bluetooth so no phone signal required. She researched quite extensively and the Up works well with iPhone. I have my app linked to My Fitness Pal and the 2 share info. You wear the bracelet all the time (different colours available!) and set it between day/night mode so it can monitor your sleep patterns too. If you love data analysis & graphs you will love it!

Fitbit flex was rubbish ime, I could not calibrate it to be remotely accurate for steps or sleep or anything. DH has been happy using his smartphone for distance & you can get phone apps that work out Fitbit type stats. So yes, I really think you should use your Garmin all day instead. (But can't comment on the Jawbone).

I have the fit it one and I really like it. It seems accurate and measures steps and floors/hills climbed.

I've just bought a Garmin 10 (yesterday!), but reviews I read beforehand said the battery lasted about 5 hrs in use. I've not tried wearing mine for more than running, yet, and I'm only going on internet reviews.

You could always try it once and see.

The Jawbone 24 has just popped up on Groupon with 55% off so I've bought one. I'll keep the Garmin for when I get back to running (which will hopefully be soon!)

I love my fitbit, had the flex since last summer, lost nearly 5 stones and now upgraded to the Charge HR.
