Feeling sad...had to turn back on run

Laid on the sofa having had to take a diazepam Hmm I was meant to be doing a 12 mile run today in preparation for my first half marathon on the 12th. I am so annoyed! It's a beautiful day out there and I was all geared up for it. My
friend had to carry on. I just
hope I have caught my silly
dodgy back in time. Had this
once before and it's not good. I am now going to have to do 12 miles on my own in the week, as planning on just an 8 the weekend before and then rest. I WILL complete this race Shock

Hello, sorry to hear you are struggling. Just to share your pain, I too have just stopped on a long run. My head and legs just wouldn't co-ordinate. I am struggling with the half distance too but am doing a marathon in April, am so behind in training that I am considering deferring.

Hope your back doesn't get worse.

It's tough isn't it, when your hearts all up for it and something silly let's you down! Hope you get to your goal.

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope it gets better soon.
If you are up to 12 miles you probably did a 10mile last week or maybe more. I would skip the 12 mile give your body a chance to recover and hopefully the 8 miles will go well at the weekend. If you can run ten miles the adrenaline on race day will get you through the last 5km.
I'm doing a half on the 15th and I did my last long run yesterday planning a 6 or 7 miler next weekend max.
I'm no expert by the way but I find when I have an injury its better give yourself a proper chance to heal.

Aww I hope you get better soon.

I feel partly excited now that spring is upon us, the sun is shining today (its starting to cloud over now, but this morning was beautiful) and Im really looking forward to getting back outside for some runs. Problem is Im not sure my knees can hack running anymore. My left especially feels a bit sore sometimes and I know that running will just make it worse. I dont want to give up running, but I fear I might have to have a break this year to give my knee a good chance to heal. I really dont want to, but I might have no choice Sad

I never thought I would feel sad about having an injury that would stop me running. I am totally addicted now! I started a couple of years ago just doing 2-4 miles to keep stress at bay and have some 'me' time. If someone took that away a would hate it. I guess cycling? Least it's out in the fresh air? Fingers crossed we stay strong and healthy and we can keep on plodding! I would live to be still running into my 60-70's!
