Adults dancing in central London - anyone do it?

I did loads of dance until I was 18, then taught for a bit while at university, then pretty much stopped and I am aching to get back in to it

However, I am significantly bigger and less fit than I used to be and have popped in to pineapple a few times for their jazz and ballet classes, which I absolutely LOVED but need to remember not to feel intimidated by all the lithe 18 year olds limbering up with their six packs!

Does anyone go / do anything / take classes anywhere? I guess I'm just looking to start a conversation about it really!!

I don't anymore - my knees won't take it - but I did to classes at Frame in Shoreditch when I was in my early-mid thirties. The classes are not that serious in terms of wannabe professional dancers. Lots of people going for fitness and fun. When I first came to London I used to go to Danceworks, just off Oxford Street, which were similarly mixed with lithe young things and people going for the laugh.

Have you heard of 5 Rhythms? It's not a class in the sense that there's steps to learn but it is a wonderful blissful opportunity to dance. I've been going for six years and adore it! There's a lovely community of dancers in London and many events. I particularly recommend the Thursday night dance in Vauxhall. On phone so can't link sorry but check out dancingtao.net for more info.

Thanks for your replies, I haven't been to danceworks but have heard of it - I will check it out

I've not heard of 5rhymths either but just had a look, thank you for the suggestion, I am looking for something with steps (to keep my old brain fresh!) but thank you anyway

Central School of Ballet near Farringdon used to do adult evening classes of ballet jazz and contemporary (but that was 10yrs ago). There is also Dance Attic and Greenwich Dance Agency but they are both a bit out of Central London.
