Moonwalk 2015

So I applied and got a place on the Edinburgh Moonwalk for this year. Did a 3.25mile walk today to see if I fall into the "normal" fitness range of a mile in 18 - 20 min and I averaged just over a 16 min mile. Yeah me!

Anyway I need new trainers - any recommendations from previous moonwalkers/powerwalkers? My internet searches are not being very successful.

I've done three Moonwalks. The best pair of trainers is one that doesn't rub! For Moonwalk #1 I was "fitted" at Run and Become on Dalry Rd (not sure it is there now). They were awful and I had dreadful full-heel blisters.

For the next pair I just googled what my feet are like - narrow ankle, high arch, wide front. I found a pair mentioned (Nike Vomero) on a runners forum. Two pairs and two Moonwalks later I have not had a single blister.

Concentrate on speed - once you start the Moonwalk you just want to get finished as soon as possible.

I am still swithering over doing Edinburgh this year.

Thanks PrimalLass was going to go into Run & Become for a fitting but maybe I will give it a miss now! Had very comfy Saucony trainers before but the don't make that particular type anymore. Will maybe try one of their other makes & see how that goes.

I might've just been unlucky, but they definitely didn't fit.

Run 4 it on lothian road can offer a good fitting service. Get training!!
