anyone else just started this? I did week one run two today and I swear it was harder than the 1st one! Honestly can not see myself ever doing a 5k! Please some tell me it will get easier

Well done! I did it last year and I'm still running! I found some weeks were harder than others. Maybe you were running a bit too fast? The first week can give you a bit of a confidence boost and you end up running a bit too quickly. Maybe try and slow down a bit? Good luck!

EdithDickie · 10/02/2015 20:58

I did it! Started last May. The first few I really thought I was going to drop dead and that I was a total idiot to think I could ever run. But, stuck with it and got there. I have the afternoon off work tomorrow and planning to run 10 miles. Never would have thought I would say that!

Hang in there, it gets easier and you will enjoy it more. Don't rush (either the speed of each run or getting through the weeks, it's fine to repeat).

I've just started too. Have got to wk2 run1 and really enjoying it. Was supposed to do run 2 today but got sore throat, cough and asthma so haven't been out. It's weird how I am gutted to miss it, and how I look forward to going.

What time of day do you run? I have been going straight after school drop off twice a week and Sat afternoons round the park.

I just started yesterday - after a month of putting it off (was a new yesr's resolution, ha ha). Have 3 slots planned, one lunchtime when I'm working at home, one early morning (will be the hardest I think) and then Saturday morning when DD2 is at ballet. As long as I only have to get up early especially for it once a week think I can manage. Have always loathed running but yesterday's W1R1 not too bad...

blondiep14 · 11/02/2015 19:21

I just did the first one, so W1,R1?

I've had a few jogs before this as first exercise in, well, ever!! I thought I'd try this so I can chart (any) progress I make.

Would so love to become a runner!!

Hurt my knee Saturday jogging and this evening it's very sore so about to bath and then will ice tonight when kids are all settled.

I'm about to start week 7 day 1 and God alone knows how! I've not missed a session and not had to repeat any and believe me - I'm no runner!! Tomorrow I have to run 20 minutes without stopping and already my brain is telling me I can't do it

Boomf · 12/02/2015 10:56

So - meant to say! - trust in the programme , listen to decent music and you'll get there

Blueskyandbirdsong · 16/02/2015 16:18

I tried week 2 run 1 today but various things went wrong and I gave up half way through. Going to do another from week 1 tonight, please someone tell me it gets easier!!

Mumonabroom · 16/02/2015 19:26

I started this in December, had to have some time off for sore throat, but then managed to even run on holiday. I now get sad when I can't run when no child care. I'm doing W5R1 tomorrow. Feeling very positive about it. I have signed up for a 10 mile race for charity in October, so this is all good practice. Also doing a "fun" 5k in April, to motivate myself to do the training. Good luck and it really does get easier and more expensive if you become slightly addicted to buying running accessories...

Lagoonablue · 16/02/2015 22:31

Just done w3r2. It was hard.......

Blueskyandbirdsong · 17/02/2015 17:42

Well done mum and lagoon I'm doing w2 r1 tomorrow. Already feeling much stronger. Ended up doing another w1 run yesterday and really enjoyed it

Blueskyandbirdsong · 18/02/2015 07:53

eck just spoke to DH who works away. He has signed us up for a 5k race on 30th may! It's no problem to him, he runs regularly. Suppose it will give me motivation if nothing else. Off to do w2r1 in a bit.
