Reformer Pilates?

So I've just bought 5 sessions of reformer pilates for £14 from livingsocial, normal classes there are a tenner each so I think I got a good deal. Has anyone got experience of reformer pilates and can tell me what to expect?

I've taken mat classes before but I'm sure I read on here that the reformer variety is different - can't find the thread now though.

Reformers use machines. Really good way of improving at Pilates. Sounds like you got a great deal.

I did this weekly for 5 months. It was 3:1 ratio with a physio. Sounds like you got a great deal! It was quite dull but I felt amazing afterwards.

You are using machines and mechanical resistance to strengthen and stretch your muscles.

It's brilliant. The machines help you to isolate the muscles you are working on and do the excercises correctly. It will help you with your mat work as the mat excercises are based on the reformer ones. If it's a good class, you will wake up the next morning with a tingling feeling in all sorts of muscles you didn't know you had!

Oh thank you! That thread's all coming back to me now - the machines look like torture instruments or something?? Really looking forward to this now, not a masochist honestly but do need a new challenge! Thanks :)
