for an overweight beginner like me. I want to start but find the classes at my local gym quite off putting as I am overweight and so I would like to start doing it at home as I feel quite stiff at the moment. I am going to the gym to lose the weight and doing the usual stretches but always wanted to build yoga in my lifestyle as something I will do habitually.

There are so many dvds out there so would welcome your recommendations.

Also can you do just 15-30 minutes or is a full hour better?

the shiva rea DVDs have a matrix at the start so you can put together a sequence as long or as short as you like, and there are pre-set routines of varying lengths too

it's also helpful if you want to target a specific area on that day - 15 minutes a day would still be beneficial I think

she usually offers modifications if you are new to any particular move, or if you want to extend or deepen the posture

some of her DVDs on amazon
