Brighton Marathon thread, anyone?

Anyone else doing this and how are you getting on?

I'm hopelessly behind on my training plan due to a family crisis but have kept up regular 5ks and a few 10ks and occasional 7 milers but there have been a few missed runs and no cross training. Need some support to avoid panicked overtraining!

I really want to do this in 2015 as part of turning 50 mid-life crisis with pride.

Hello!

I also have a place for the Brighton Marathon. You sound in a better place training-wise than me. I did a half marathon at the end of Sept and was in good shape for that. Had two weeks completely off following that, then slacked a bit on training for a bit afterwards with no events on the horizon. Then got plantar fasciitis - couldn't run for 4 weeks, couldn't even cycle to begin with. Instead of doing heaps of swimming I sat on the sofa drinking wine and eating crap and sulking.

Got back to running again this week. 5km yesterday, 6km the day before. No pain (touch wood!). But my legs ache after those short runs, and I have a long long way to go now to get anywhere near the fitness level I was / want to be. Oh and I have a half-ironman triathlon booked in for June, so I need to fit in some cycling and swimming as well as a heap of running. Head full of snot from a stinking cough/cold and it's fair to say I'm not feeling on top form just now….

Training plan is supposed to start tomorrow but already a spanner in the works as DH needs to leave early for work so I'll be training late tomorrow night….not my best time :(

I'm sorry that turned into a very whingey post.

Are you following a training plan, Innocence? I am hoping to, although I've doctored a marathon training plan to fit in more cycling and swimming.

Well done on your half! I had one booked for November but had to skip it to deal with my family stuff - set me back psychologically, but actually my 'coach' says it would have been too soon.

I haven't got a training plan as such (except in my head!) but I've rejoined my running club and the leader is going to help me.

Planning to do some squats and things tonight (always a first for everything).

I did a lot of wine and cheese training over Christmas as well. Blush.

How are you getting on? I tried out a few squats on Monday but had to work late last night and missed my planned run. Feeling glum.

Good luck to all those who will be running. I will be manning one of the drink stations! Smile

Hi has anyone managed to defer their entry till next year? I am having ongoing problems with injury and hoping to defer just to be sensible. BUT looking at the website it says to fill out a form and you then qualify for 20% off the 2016 entry fee....but I've already paid to enter this year, why do I need to pay again? Is that unfair? Any views or advice? thanks
