I go out a couple of times a week doing c.20km and meant to be gradually increasing distance by 10km / month (100km ride next spring) except OMFG my 'undercarriage' is so bloody sore
. I tried padded cycling shorts last week but gutted I didn't notice much difference. It's more my (tmi) slightly protruding lady bits than my backside but tbh everything just seems to chafe & I feel bruised afterwards

I'm hoping to get a new used road bike for Christmas but if a new saddle will make a big difference & I get one now, can I transfer it to any new bike? Any other suggestions?
