that's what people say about rowing machines but am addicted to the concept 2

skierg looks like ultimate low impact alternative to doing stuff, and much harder than rowing

hmm, not seen that before, for me I think probably not, but then I dont really have any gaps in my exercise menu.

Interesting idea though and if there was one in the gym I'd certainly have a little go whilst no one was looking (always a bit self conscious trying new things in public Blush)

anyway I can't afford it, they're practically £1000, I don't know why I get these ridiculous impulses, I could go to Costa Rica and jog through the rainforest for a few days for that and it would be more fun

I am running but I'm always getting injured so am always trying to find alternatives. I swim and cycle but I like Minge love looking at new things to try. I am a running/training article and kit junkie

me too, Achilles disorder, hip disorder but weirdly pain free (probably thanks to all these low impact alternatives like rowing machines!) and preparing for a half marathon at the end of November

so nyah

oh totally agree, variety is key, too much of anyone thing often leads to injury as I have found out time and time again

that looks fun (not as good as my imaginary skierg though) my gym has nothing like that, if is a bit shit really but has some useful things when I can't do as much running , like the adaptive motion trainer

No my gym is v dull - cross trainer, rower, cycles, eliptical and then mirrors and free weights and weight machines. I just ran my first half last week Mitchy. I have tendonitis in both tibialis anteriors - very persistent.

ow :( is that your shins? is it caused by running? Hope physio or something helps, the idea of both legs being equally painful is quite scary

Kind of - inner shin, lower third about three inches of aggro about 2 inches up from the ankle knobbly bit on the inside leg. Just home from Hever Castle - really fab fun event. Can't wait to do it again!

I'm trying to change my running style to help my achilles, based on a brief consultation with dr google, apparently if I can learn to heel strike that might help but is undoubtedly a recipe for yet more injuries Hmm

Yep and went to see a running spec. Have to increase leg turnover ie up the cadence, shorten my stride, less forefoot and more mid foot strike. Have heel raises in my shoes as calves tight and ankle range motion isn't what it should be. But I must say after a year or so of aggro with my ankles they seem to be able take a lot more than they could. No soreness after yesterday's 10k and I gave it a real sprint finish so I'm hopeful it's a sign that things are getting better :-) Patience is a real virtue!
