Toning up

I have lost a stone and now want to tone up. Is the best way to join a gym or are there ways to do this at home?

Any links or advice on which fitness DVDs to use?

I have until the end of March, will it mean daily stretching/ exercising?

Hello! Remember me? I used to know you on the Dec 2010 board :) how are you doing? Anyway - I'd like to know the answer to this too so hopefully someone will come and answer soon

The best way to tone up is to lift weights, and that is easiest at a gym. However, getting to a gym isn't always easy.

You can do quite a lot at home. If you're new to lifting weights, then your own body weight will be sufficient for a while. You can do squats, lunges, pushups, and triceps dips very easy. It won't hit all your muscles, but it will do a lot.

A yoga mat, a swiss ball, and an interchangeable dumbell set from Argos will add many more possibilities, especially as you will be able to work your shoulders and back.

There are plenty of articles and videos on the Internet on how to do these exercises.

4 years is fine! - my mum pledged to lose hers when I turned 21 :) - I'm losing the weight from baby no. 2 now. I think Shred may be the way to go, now if I could only find the motivation to remove the DVD from the cellophane :)

Congratulations on baby number two. I never got it together to try for another and am too old now. I often wonder what happened to our group from December 2010. Is anyone else still knocking about? I have been here but changed my name several times and have only recently felt confident about coming back as 'me'.
