Doubling / Splitting Runs

JudysPriest · 11/06/2014 21:08

I did my first double today.

5k at 1pm then another 5k at 8.

Nothing too heavy, strong and steady. I've heard this can be a good way to increase resting metabolism, increasing recovery rates and decreasing chances of injury.

Anyone else done this as a regular part of a running programme? Did you feel it was more effective?

Havn't tried it -but great idea!

Not so great, turns out I measured my run wrong, did around 9 miles in total. I now want to scream every time I lower myself onto the toilet.

I've also ended up having a rest day today as I cannot run properly, had to stick to a very short jog.

Splitting runs = good.
Not measuring your route before you start = bad.

Not done it as at the moment I'm triathlon training but quite often do two sports in one day. Recent reading of professional runners autobiography / running guides suggests it is a good thing to do though

Never heard of it? But I regularly do 2 exercise classes a day or run first then do a workout

Why are your legs so bad? Did you stretch/cool down ?

I did, but I just ran till I felt ready to stop. Obviously something in the water!
