Felix the 16:8 idea is that in every 24 hour period, you fast 16 hours and eat over a period of 8. So I have tea coffee water until 12ish and then eat normally until 8pm. There is also this element of exercising in the fast period because it uses stored fat rather than energy held in the liver. Over the past 3 days I feel like it has shrunk my appetite, helped me regain a certain mindfulness about eating but avoided me feeling like I am trapped in a diet. I posted a link to an article related to the method a couple of days ago if you want to scroll through and find it. But I find that unlike 5:2 which I am a fan of no question, this method feels right for me right now.

30DS L3D3 done (with DS trying to climb on me while I was doing the travelling push-ups, so not my most successful session ever!). Sweating like a pig - much more than I normally do. It's very muggy here this morning.

If I keep trying maybe I'll see a difference eventually. I do feel stronger, which is something.

Lambzig · 14/06/2014 08:17

RI30 L4D4 done. Not easier yet.

I had a good close up look at my naked self in the mirror this morning. 30 day shred and RI30 really has changed my body. The only bit that doesn't look ok is my CS pouch, I do have lines down my tummy either side, it's just the wobbly front bit. Everything else is actually ok (not lovely, but ok for a short legged, fat kneed, 47 year old, so it has worked a bit.

FelixFelix · 14/06/2014 08:25

Thank you yadah, I will look for the link Smile

tabulahrasa · 14/06/2014 10:08

Ri30L2D4...a bit half heartedly, but done.

I don't know if it's me or this level, but I'm finding this level hard going - I feel like I've been doing it for weeks and I know I haven't, lol

MegBusset · 14/06/2014 11:00

I have completed the 30DS :) moved straight on to ri30 L1 this morning, have to say I prefer the strength circuits with three moves (have never felt a minute take so long as in 30DS level 3).

ImogenQuy · 15/06/2014 08:33

30DS L3D4. Groan. I seem to be getting worse at this as I go along - had to follow Anita for the travelling push-ups today. This level is really hard on the shoulders.

Well done Meg - I hope that'll be me next week.

ddas · 15/06/2014 16:08

Too late to join? Want to try and get more toned especially in the stomach area before our summer holidays.

ddas · 15/06/2014 16:10

Do you use the DVD or video? I have 2 dc under 4 so think this is more achievable and cheaper than trying to get to a gym!

yadahyadah · 15/06/2014 17:26

ddas welcome. Shred is available on dvd or youtube so you can start today via youtube and order the dvd from amazpn etc. Good luck.

Ri30L2D5, someone please tell me level 3 is more fun...I mean I know it's not going to be, but just tell me it is anyway, lol

ddas - I did the first level on youtube and then ordered the DVD, so I knew I could do it and wasn't wasting my money.

ImogenQuy · 15/06/2014 18:51

ddas, I bought the DVD. I also have Ripped in 30 waiting for me when I finish the Shred, heaven help me. But if you can set up a laptop somewhere you've got space to exercise (and it doesn't take a lot of space - room to lie on the floor for abdominal exercises, and to do lunges and jump up and down), it would be worth trying it on YouTube first.

tabulahrasa · 15/06/2014 19:08

I used the x-box to get it on youtube...I'm not very up on consoles, but if any of the rest of them can get youtube it's handy to use the tv, so you can see, well I need to anyway, lol

Lambzig · 15/06/2014 19:57

Tabulah, yes of course, level 3 is really so, so much fun. There, did that help?

tabulahrasa · 15/06/2014 20:01

No, because I don't believe it, lol

3's going to be the hardest isn't it? Like 2 was with the shred. :(

yadahyadah · 15/06/2014 20:39

It's bloody horrible tabulah but only in the sense that it really works under-used muscles really well. Anyway, you have been unstoppable since you started on this flipping JM rigmarole so I suspect that like the rest of us you will do it and feel the benefit from it and then really enjoy bitching and moaning about how horrible it is - it is a small perk of doing Level 3 and I suggest you go to town on it Grin.

Stuntnun your post re: 14:10 being better for women prompted me to look it all up online and this weekend as premenstrual hormones really went into overdrive, it saved my life and possibly those of my family too. so thanks. Briefly, for those interested, lots of nutritionists/trainers/interested parties are now saying that women's hormonal fluctuations make a 14 hour fast and 10 hour eating window a better bet for them in terms of warding off moodiness and head fuzziness. Although I have been finding not eating until noon pretty straightforward this week, I really felt it this weekend but having read all that stuff, just had a banana and a handful of nuts at 11 to ward off the gorgon that was awakening within ... phew.

I've still got 2 days to go, lol, it's just that I hate level 2 and I can't help thinking, god how bad is level 3 going to be?

Actually I don't hate all of level 2, it's just that I hate the plank cardio circuit and the second strength one enough to make me hate the rest by default, lol

FelixFelix · 15/06/2014 21:26

30DSL1D6 done. Accidentally skipped a day yesterday! The side of my right calf is really hurting afterwards and I don't know what I've done Confused

Not looking forward to level 2 from what everyone has said Shock

StuntNun · 16/06/2014 06:41

Yadah I'm the same when in premenstrual I need to eat regularly or I get cross. DH has been known to shove a chocolate biscuit in my mouth in an emergency! Blush

Felix you don't have to move on to level 2 at any particular point, stay on level 1 a bit longer if you need to. I'm doing Ri30 at the moment and level 1 really targets the muscles you need for press-ups so I'm going to stay on it until I can do proper press-ups rather than move on after a particular number of days.

ImogenQuy · 16/06/2014 06:56

30DS L3D5 done. Slightly feebly, but I've got a cold and I really wanted to stay in bed, so I feel it was an achievement to do it at all.

Felix, my main problem with L2 is that it wanted more co-ordination than I've got: if you can walk around without falling over your own feet you probably won't find it as hard as I did. The only bit that I found really, really hard in itself was the squats with V-raises in the final circuit: I think the anterior deltoids were just left out when I was constructed, and I really struggled with it even with very light weights.

yadahyadah · 16/06/2014 08:08

Ri30 L4D4 done under severe menstrual washout conditions. Figured it detoxifying to have my fat sobbing so hard throughout...

Lambzig · 16/06/2014 08:38

RI30 L4D5 done as there are no trains to marylebone today so working at home. Is it tragic that my first thought when I got to the station and found out was "ooh, I can do my exercise".

Five days until my holiday and still no sign of those last 2lbs shifting.

Has anyone taken a look at JM's eating plan that goes with RI30. I think if I ate that much food, might would be the size of a bungalow.

FelixFelix · 16/06/2014 11:56

Stunt I really struggle with the press ups on 30DS. I can barely do 3 in a row, even on my knees. I'm getting slightly better but might not move on to level 2 until I can do a few real press ups!

Imogen I am knackered then Grin I'm so clumsy it's unreal. I'll just get on with it and see how I do.

I've pulled a muscle in the side of my right calf and it's killing Sad did it last night and it felt better this morning, but hurting again after doing 30DS. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it feel a bit better? I'm new to all of this exercise malarkey!

BetterWithCheese · 16/06/2014 12:19

Ri30 L1D5 done. I felt awful today, I actually almost gave up after the second circuit but managed to press on. I was up a lot in the night with the baby last night so I may just be really tired.
